The Tennessee Chapter of HFMA is one of the leading chapters within the National association. This achievement is only possible because of the support of volunteers like you. By joining a S.T.A.R. (Strategic Team for Action and Response) Committee you can personally contribute to the success of the Tennessee Chapter.
Please review the following list and descriptions of all the Tennessee Chapter S.T.A.R. Committees. If you have an interest in serving on one of the S.T.A.R. committees, please complete the form below, and click on the SEND button to join.
Objective: build a strong base of financial support for the chapter by recruiting and maintaining relationships with Corporate Sponsors.
Responsibilities: Coordinate opportunities and events related to the solicitation and receipt of funds from Corporate Sponsors.
CPAR (Certified Patient Account Representative)
Objective: Promote professional
Responsibilities: Maintain the content and integrity of the CPAR study manual, administer examinations, initiate coaching sessions, plan and conduct award ceremonies.
Forum Development
Objective: Develop a system of regional forums for the purpose of providing networking and educational opportunities tailored specifically for Chief Financial Officers, Patient Account Specialists and Managed Care Specialists.
Responsibilities: Plan opportunities for each of the specific groups to gather and collaborate on pending National and State legislative and reimbursement issues, or other pertinent topics that affect healthcare facilities.
Leadership Development
Objective: Stimulate growth for the chapter and for individuals by encouraging members to become involved and mentoring them to become leaders.
Responsibilities: Create opportunities for potential leaders to learn and build their leadership skills. Actively promote mentoring opportunities for individuals desiring to become a chapter leader.
Member Services
Objective: Pursue an active plan of recruitment for prospective members and encourage continued membership of current members.
Responsibilities: Actively monitor membership fluctuation throughout the HFMA chapter year. Conduct recruitment and retention programs. Plan new member events and welcome new members.
Certification and Professional Development
Objective: Promote the benefits of

Programs and Education
Objective: Coordinate all chapter meetings and programs, including four annual educational sessions and additional regional session each year.
Responsibilities: Coordinate yearly education events to insure they do not conflict with THA, National HFMA and Region 5 events. Appoint regional program committees to work with Regional V.P.’s to develop program schedules and content.
Projects/Yerger Planning
Objective: Develop and implement educational and informative projects designed to have significant impact on customers, providers and third-party purchasers of healthcare.
Responsibilities: Select project(s) that can be brought to completion based on recommendations from chapter leadership. Oversee the writing and preparation of Helen M. Yerger Award submissions.
Publications
Objective: Ensure that timely communication occurs to Chapter members through publication of Chapter newsletters to keep members informed of current issues and Chapter activities.
Responsibilities: Ensure that Chapter newsletter is published and distributed at a minimum of four times during the chapter year. Encourage members to contribute articles and photographs for publication.
Registration
Objective: Ensure that the registration process for each educational session is conducted in an efficient, accurate and timely manner and that all educational hours provided to membership are reflected in year end reporting.
Responsibilities: Coordinate with Programs and Education Committee to ensure that the registration process is conducted efficiently and consistently for every education session conducted by the chapter.
Scholarship
Objective: Develop, coordinate and administer the Gloria Adams Scholarship fund.
Responsibilities: Administer scholarship program as approved by the Board of Directors. Review applications for scholarship and distribute funds as appropriate.
Website
Objective: Maintain the Chapter web site in a professional and current manner and promote the use of the Chapter and National web sites.
Responsibilities: Maintain basic Chapter information, calendar of events, information updates and recommend additional uses for the web site.
